CSU Pueblo football blows out Adams State in road romp

The Colorado State University Pueblo football team went on the road and racked up 491 yards on offense en route to a 52-20 win at Adams State Saturday at ASU's Rex Stadium.CSU Pueblo quarterback Hunter Raquet went 16-of-25 with 206 passing yards and three touchdowns.On the ground, Jordan Jones totaled 80 yards on seven rushes. Jones, along with nine other players rushed for 276 yards and three touchdowns. In the air, Dorion McGarity caught three passes for a team-high 63 yards receiving.Andrew Cook, Max Fine, and Austin Bacher each caught a touchdown pass.On special teams, Cook returned three punts for a total of 53 yards including an extended return of 18 yards. Nigel Mitchell returned three kickoffs for 136 yards and included a 95-yard touchdown return during the fourth quarter.Sullivan Moon converted on 1-of-2 field goal tries and was successful on a 25-yard attempt.On the defensive side, the Pack was led by Eli Pittman and Jon Nuschy with five tackles each. CSU Pueblo totaled three sacks, led by Monty Hamrick and Tavian Robey with one sack each.The ThunderWolves jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on a 15-yard touchdown reception to Cook and a 51-yard rushing touchdown by Jones.Bacher put himself in the box score when he scored on a 26-yard touchdown reception with 13:11 left in the first half.CSU Pueblo added another touchdown with 9:34 remaining in the second quarter and converted on a 25-yard field goal and carried a 31-7 lead into halftime.In the third quarter, CSU Pueblo added two more touchdowns to the score, a 1-yard reception to Fine, and with 7:20 left in the quarter, Mitchell returned a 95-yard kickoff to the end zone and put the score at 45-14.With 13:46 left in the game, Nick Bingham scored on a 6-yard rush for the ThunderWolves.CSU Pueblo (3-3, 2-2 RMAC) returns home next week for a matchup Saturday versus New Mexico Highlands. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl.
