Marion Hirsch Gustafson

Marion Gustafson, age 94, passed away peacefully early Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023. Marion was born and raised in Pueblo, Colo., one of seven children. She attended the University of Colorado, Boulder where she met her beloved husband, Richard (Dick) Gustafson who passed away in 2015. Marion and Dick were dedicated to their three children: Nancy Gustafson of Mendon, Mass., Lori Zuurbier Gustafson of Heiloo, Netherlands, and Rich Gustafson of Bayfield, Colo. Marion and Dick were partners in the Arapahoe Supermarkets in Pueblo and then established Dick’s Ranch Market in Boulder, Colo. Later, Marion worked as the bookkeeper and office manager at the Boulder County Sheltered Workshop for students and adults with disabilities whom she adored and vice versa. Upon retirement, Marion and Dick moved back to Pueblo to golf, garden and renew friendships. Known by her family and friends for her infectious laugh, positive outlook, big heart and grit. Marion was dedicated in her last years to making newcomers feel welcome at The Villa independent living in Pueblo and bringing people together. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She created joy wherever she went.
